Here comes that time of the year where critics and enthusiasts begin searching for what‘s on the horizon for the ocean cruise line industry. Before we get into the amazing new cruises set to launch in 2017, let’s quickly look back at what we experienced in 2016.
Sailing out of Miami, the Carnival Vista was voted the best overall ship by The Cruise Critic’s 2016 Awards. This ship gave us an IMAX Theater, a beer brewery, a water park, and much more. The Vista currently sails to the Caribbean.
Out of the luxurious cruise world, the Seven Seas Explorer won the 2016 award. This brand new ship provides some rooms with balconies close to 1,000 square feet! High end restaurants and steakhouses, 500 chandeliers, and a dress code are just some of the details that make this ship extravagant. This ship cruises throughout the Mediterranean, Europe, Caribbean, and more.
Sticking with the luxury, the Azarama Journey and the Azarama Quest were both refurbished in 2016, which include new cabins, furniture, and much more. These ships cruise in many places worldwide, including Asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East, and more.
The Queen Mary was refurbished in 2016, adding 50 new cabins. This cruise ship added cabins intended for singles onboard. Since this ship sails around the world, improvements were also made in the buffet restaurant and other dining locations.
With 2016 almost in the past, 2017 provides great excitement for vacationers and cruise lovers around the globe. We’ll see some of the biggest cruise ships make their initial voyages. And on top of that, the number of total cruise vacations is expected to increase from 24 million in 2016.
Let‘s start with the Norwegian Joy, scheduled to debut Summer 2017. This is a ship purposely built to sail around China full-time. It’s a sister ship to the Norwegian Escape, only with a few less total cabins. The ship will feature a 2-level go kart track on board.
